Reading the indicators
CarCheck displays the source indicators when available. A general change indicator does not explain why a modification was made, the quality of the work or the vehicle’s present condition. Also review the LPG, colour and tyre indicators and the current licence.
The dataset describes its coverage as active private vehicles from 2017 onward. Missing information can reflect source coverage or availability.
Why this is not an accident report
A colour change can be recorded without a collision. Damage and repairs may also leave no entry in these indicators. A positive indicator, negative indicator or missing field does not establish whether an accident occurred.
Request repair documents and an independent inspection to assess chassis and mechanical condition. Public records do not establish a complete accident history.
Illustrative example — fictional data
A report shows a colour change. Ask when it happened and request the updated licence and work invoice. The indicator alone does not establish that a collision occurred or that the paintwork was completed properly.
